the product of an illicit love affair between a popular japanese pop idol and a korean businessman, boa was born near the middle of january in the middle of a howling snowstorm with winds strong enough to rattle the sturdy windows of the tokyo hospital. the only thing louder than the wind shrieking outside was boa's crying, something both boa and her mother love to mention whenever her birth is brought up. boa still uses this exact moment to show that she was born to sing (as loudly as possible) while her mother uses it as an example to show that she would never have another moment of peace in her life with boa as her daughter. boa made sure this came true.

shortly after she was born her mother and father got married, leaving boa with her mother's mother for two weeks while they went on a rather extensive honeymoon (week 1) and bought a house in Korea (week 2) that they felt they could comfortably raise a family in, and managed to get them all moved in just as boa turned one whole month old. a party was held for just the three of them, and pictures of his momentous occasion still litter the household. boa has copies in her dorm room, her grinning mother and smiling father, and of course she herself in the middle wailing as loudly as she could. she jokes that she hasn't ever changed, though her wailing as become more of a siren's song (her words) rather than crying and shrieking for food...though, it still happens if she's hungry enough.

even before her fifth birthday, boa's mother knew she would be following in her footsteps when it came to singing. her little girl loved to sing more than anything else in the world. she couldn't get enough of disney films no matter what language they were in, her favorites being the little mermaid and the lion king, but the former moreso than the latter for all of ariel's songs. tiny boa had an obsession with ariel...she wanted to BE ariel. she would sit in the bathtub and pretend she was a mermaid belting out part of your world in whatever language she felt like, usually japanese or korean but her english wasn't that bad either. her mother enrolled her in singing classes just before she started school, and her little ariel flourished. she even had a knack for instruments, though she ignored her mother's wish to play piano and started with guitar. as expected, she was an amazing little performer and singer but medicore in her classes...something her mother understood all too well. she pushed her education as much as she could but boa couldn't focus on her studies as much as she could her music.

This continued all through school; Boa was the lead in so many musicals and plays but she was never the top of her class. in fact, if you had of asked boa in her first year of highschool if she cared about education at all she would have laughed in your face. she was convinced she was going to run away somewhere and become a singing sensation. she could speak both japanese and korean and she was sure that if she tried hard enough she could probably learn english, but as she continued through school she found that she loved teaching other people to sing. she was the go-to girl in her choir for help, and she loved sitting down and leading people through songs, singing slowly so that they could harmonize with her. it was then she realized her dream in life: to help other people sing. she wanted other people to feel as amazing as she did when she was singing, even if it meant she had to teach them how to feel that way herself.

she buckled down, pulled up her grades and applied to yonsei. she got in (probably by the skin of her teeth) and started working hard to realize her dream. well, when she wasn't out singing karaoke with her sisters/friends. she joined choir and music as soon as she got there, becoming the girl who was always toting a beaten up acoustic guitar with her around campus, even to her classes. between classes she could usually be found singing and playing as loudly as possible, always encourging people to join in. yeah, she got a bit of a reputation but she couldn't help it. this was her dream, after all. now she's in her third year, and her life is singing and music and teaching (she has a little vocal class on the side for extra cash, shh) and just living life to it's fullest.

facts - speaks korean and japanese fluently. she loves to pretend that she speaks english, but the only english she really knows besides greetings are song lyrics.

- plays guitar like her life depends on it. she carries it literally everywhere just in case she can play it for/with someone. seriously, indulge her and you're in for a treat.

- all too frequently dyes her hair. she loves having a gradient dye, and right now her hair is blonde at the top and as it goes down it fades into purple. don't expect it to stay that way for long, though...she's got her eye on a beautiful bright pink to replace the purple.

- still secretly wishes she'll be scouted. the idol life really doesn't seem fun but singing is her passion and she wants to do it always, and being an idol would make that come true...right?

- loves to party, though she's crazy enough without the alcohol. she'll drink it though, don't worry. hope you like loud drunken singing!

- has been told she isn't very pretty and she feels like that's true, but she also believes her voice is beautiful enough to make up for it.

- not the thinnest girl, but she doesn't care. she loves to eat and people think she's ugly anyway, right?

- either wears too much makeup or none at all. she isn't afraid to go barefaced, especially to class. who has time for makeup anyway? unless she's going to a party. get ready for WAY too much eyeliner in that case.

- will drop everything to help her sisters, no matter what the problem is. whether it be with homework (she's really good at moral support) to chewing out their boyfriend/girlfriend for cheating. her loud voice isn't just for singing, you know!
